HBO annonce pour le 4 novembre 2014 le coffret de la seconde saison de Newsroom en édition DVD & Blu-ray.

La série met en vedette Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Dev Patel et Sam Waterston.

Après une sortie médiatique très remarquée – où il affirme notamment que les « États-Unis ne sont plus le meilleur pays au monde » – le présentateur vedette d’une chaîne d'informations américaine revient aux affaires.

Mais Will McAvoy trouve une salle de rédaction quasiment vide. Désormais, il devra faire avec une nouvelle équipe de journalistes dirigée par Mackenzie MacHale, avec qui il a une relation compliquée. Son arrivée change radicalement la ligne éditoriale de l’émission News Night, diffusée le soir sur Atlantis Cable News (ACN). Très talentueux, mais coincé dans une routine anesthésiante depuis des années, Will doit changer sa façon de travailler.

Fini le grand spectacle, l'équipe tente désormais de dénoncer les mensonges, notamment des personnalités politiques. Un retour aux bases du journalisme, sans corruption et avec des informations sourcées et vérifiées. Mais cette tentative de faire différemment des concurrents a un prix : les audiences… La direction de la chaîne n'est pas vraiment ravie, surtout quand Will et son équipe s'attaquent aux groupes finançant la chaîne.

Starring Emmy® Award winner Jeff Daniels (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series) and created by Aaron Sorkin (Academy Award® winner for writing The Social Network, creator of the multiple Emmy® winner The West Wing), The Newsroom follows a troupe of zealous journalists earnestly trying to reclaim the legacy of Murrow and Cronkite in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates and tangled personal relationships. In Season 2 of The Newsroom, it’s a year later, and in the days leading up to Election Night 2012, the News Night staff is being prepared to give depositions in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by a staff member alleged to have doctored a report about a suspicious U.S. Drone strike. As details about the suit’s origin and aftermath emerge, the team continues its quixotic mission to “do the news well” in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles, and their own personal entanglements.  While the series is set at a fictional network, news stories covered in the News Night cablecast are often actual past events, or are inspired by them. The Newsroom offers viewers an opportunity to return to and relive the news events that made headlines as they watch it unfold for the show’s characters, who race to put together the broadcast. Flashing back to earlier events from August 2011 to November 2012, the new season touches on the administration’s anti-terrorism policy, Occupy Wall Street, Troy Davis, Trayvon Martin, Benghazi and, of course, the primaries and general election.
