Sony annonce pour le 9 juin 2015, le documentaire Red Army en édition DVD et Blu-ray de Gabe Polsky. Une piste sonore anglaise avec des sous-titres en français seront disponibles.
Sous l'URSS, le hockey n'était pas seulement le sport le plus populaire de la nation. Il s'agissait également d'un outil patriotique et de propagande pour montrer les vertus de l'Est sur l'Ouest. À partir d'un système implacable où les joueurs sont pris en charge en bas âge, ils sont formés pour devenir les plus grands athlètes du monde. Le défenseur étoile Slava Fetisov discute de son parcours dès les années 70, de la création d'une équipe de rêve à l'apport de l'impitoyable entraîneur Viktor Tikhonov, en passant par son désir de venir jouer en Amérique et par ses démêlés avec son pays d'origine.

(May 26, 2015) – The inspiring story of the Cold War played out on the ice rink, RED ARMY, is now available on iTunes and on Digital HD and will arrive on Blu-ray™ & DVD on June 9 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Canada. From filmmaker Gabe Polsky (The Motel Life, His Way), this feature documentary focuses on the Soviet Union’s Red Army hockey team from the perspective of its captain, Viacheslav “Slava” Fetisov, who stood up to a powerful Soviet system and paved the way for change for future generations of Russian citizens. Chronicling Fetisov’s transformation from national hero to political enemy, RED ARMY examines the social and cultural parallels between the Red Army hockey team and the rise and fall of the Soviet Union.
Featuring extensive Soviet archival footage, the film includes interviews with Red Army goaltender Vladislav Tretiak, considered to be one of the greatest goaltenders ever to play the sport, journalist Vladimir Pozner, and Scotty Bowman, retired National Hockey League and Stanley Cup Champion coach.

Synopsis:
RED ARMY is an inspiring true story about the Cold War played out on the ice rink, and a man who stood up to a powerful system, paving the way for generations of Russians. From Oscar®-nominated and Emmy® award-winning filmmakers, RED ARMY examines the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain, Slava Fetisov, the story portrays his transformation from national hero to political enemy. With the demise of Communism came the end of the Cold War, as Soviet players began joining the National Hockey League. The film examines how sport mirrors social and cultural movements in Cold War Russia.
RED ARMY was written, directed and produced by Gabe Polsky. The film was executive produced by Werner Herzog, Jerry Weintraub and Liam Satre-Meloy.
RED ARMY has a run time of approximately 85 minutes and is rated PG.
