TORONTO, On. (Mar. 17, 2017) – An emotionally distant family is brought together in the road trip dramedyYOUTH IN OREGON, available on DVD April 4, 2017, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Canada and Samuel Goldwyn Films. Academy Award® nominee Frank Langella (Best Actor, Frost/Nixon, 2008) stars in “one of the great performances of a career” (David Ehrlich, Indiewire) as Raymond Engersoll, an irritable old man determined to be legally euthanized in Oregon. Billy Crudup (20th Century Women, Spotlight) co-stars as the son-in-law determined to talk him out of it in this disarmingly humourous and heartfelt tale of family dysfunction. YOUTH IN OREGON features an all-star supporting cast including Christina Applegate (Bad Moms, Vacation), Mary Kay Place (TV’s “Big Love,” Sweet Home Alabama), Josh Lucas (TV’s “The Mysterious of Laura,” The Lincoln Lawyer), Nicola Peltz (TV’s “Bates Motel,” Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Alex Shaffer (We Are Your Friends).
Synopsis: When 79-year-old curmudgeon Raymond (Langella) makes arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon, his family refuses to accept his decision. But when another family emergency arises, Raymond's daughter Kate (Applegate) turns to her husband Brian (Crudup) for a little help. So Brian reluctantly volunteers to drive the cantankerous Raymond and his wine-loving wife Estelle (Kay Place) three-thousand miles to Oregon. Determined to change the old man's mind before they reach the Beaver State, it becomes quickly apparent to Brian that convincing your father-in-law to keep living when he's ready to check out is no simple task.
