Synopsis : Les événements se déroule en Biélorussie au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Deux partisans soviétiques sont faits prisonniers par les Allemands. Ils apprennent qu’ils doivent être pendus. L’un d’eux, Rybak, craque et accepte de collaborer ; l’autre, Sotnikov, affronte calmement la mort.
