HBO a dévoilé les nouveautés à paraître en août 2020 sur sa chaîne :
Ali & Cavett: The Tale of The Tapes – (En numérique dès le 9 août)
Au cours de sa carrière, Mohamed Ali est apparu de multiples fois dans le Dick Cavett Show. Cette célèbre émission de société nocturne, véritable institution américaine, est rapidement devenue pour le boxeur un écrin efficace pour diffuser ses idées. A travers une sélection d’entretiens entre Dick Cavett et Mohamed Ali, se dessine une histoire des Afro-Américains dans l’Amérique de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Dick Cavett lui-même et de nombreux commentateurs remettent ces interviews dans leur contexte historique et mettent en lumière l’importance du rôle joué par Mohamed Ali dans la vie publique américaine, ainsi que son rayonnement, toujours important. Robert S. Bader signe un documentaire éclairant sur un personnage hors norme.
Perry Mason – (En numérique dès le 10 août)
Produite par Robert Downey Jr (Avengers, Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes…), la nouvelle série d’HBO revient sur les origines du brillant avocat Perry Mason, héros des romans d’Earl Stanley Gardner. Los Angeles, 1932. La cité des anges est en plein essor tandis que le reste du pays se remet de la Grande Dépression. Perry Mason est alors un jeune et modeste détective privé torturé par la guerre essayant tant bien que mal de se remettre de son mariage brisé. Lorsque l’enlèvement d’un enfant tourne mal, Perry Mason se saisit de l’affaire et part en quête de vérité à travers Los Angeles. Son enquête va alors révéler une ville fracturée, rongée par le crime et la corruption.
We Are the Dream: The Kids Of The Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest – (En numérique dès le 16 août)
Chaque année à Oakland, en Californie, des centaines d’élèves de la maternelle à la 12e année participent au festival oratoire Martin Luther King, interprétant un mélange de poésie et de discours publiés et originaux. Réalisé par Amy Schatz, lauréate d’un Emmy® Award et produit par Mahershala Ali, «We Are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest» raconte les mois précédant la finale du 40e festival annuel, alors que les écoles de la ville envoient leurs personnes et groupes les mieux classés pour participer à l’événement.

Le comédien et acteur Whitmer Thomas («The Walking Dead», «Sword of Trust») présente son stand-up profondément personnel, provocateur et non conventionnel et ses chansons originales dans sa première émission spéciale d’une heure.
